I have felt lucky to meet all of my couples, but Sarah and Cody were one who left an extra special impression. From the first Skype call, I could tell we had a solid connection and that their day was going to be one to remember. We chatted more and more leading up to the wedding and with each convo we all got more excited for the day to unfold. By the time their special day came around, it felt like we had known each other for years. On the weekend of the wedding, Sarah and Cody greeted me at the airport in a rad jeep and we excitedly headed off to the venue straight away. The connection we had felt over Skype, was even stronger in person. We had so much in common – and with Sarah and Cody’s laid-back chilled vibe, love of a good laugh, and love for good food and good music, I knew I was in for a good time. It almost felt like I was on a bit of a holiday. We hung out sipping on beers and setting up for the coming day. Conversation flowed easily and they were so open to me throwing around a few suggestions about what would work well for the setup and layout of the day. That night Cody was kind enough to include me as he and his friends hung out, sharing a beautiful dinner and a few more beers. It was a kind of strange, yet great feeling, that I’d only known these people for such a short time yet it felt like we were best friends.

We kicked off the wedding day with a surf, and as we got ready for the day everything was working out perfect – until the ceremony. A huge storm arrived just as Sarah pulled up in the combi ready to head down the isle. The wind and rain was crazy – the arbour fell over, guests were losing hats and everyone retreated to the Teepee to take cover. In the face of having to change their ceremony location last minute both Sarah and Cody were taking everything in their stride. But when I jumped in the combi and sat with Sarah, we checked the radar, and I knew this storm was going to move quite quick. I asked if she was keen to wait it out and have the ceremony where she dreamt of having it – and she had total trust in my advice.  20 minutes later, the weather passed, the guests moved back into place and the amazing ceremony that had originally been planned commenced. It was so worth the wait and the perfect way to kick off their celebrations. The reception that followed was fun and funky, with good music, good food and good vibes.  It was filled with paella, tacos, gelato, tequila and some killer moves on the dance floor! Throughout the day, Sarah and Cody were so accomodating – making sure I was ok and that I always had a taco or beer nearby. They wanted to make sure I was also having a good time – and how could I not. The day was such a tribute to them as a couple and the wedding was a total dream to be a part of. I’m so lucky to be able to say that that day kicked off a great friendship with Sarah and Cody. Since then we have talked heaps and I’ve been welcomed back down to Melbourne to hang with them, watching live music and sharing hot-cross bun gelato sandwiches! I know we will be friends for a long time and look forward to seeing them each time I head to Melbourne – a rad couple that I have the privilege to have met!
